Meals and museums (Day 104)…

by agirlandhermutt on April 15, 2010

It is kind of rare when I take the time to get out of the office for lunch. I typically just eat my desk. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy my little meals that I bring to work and I love that I’m saving money by doing this simple little task. However, a new sushi joint just opened in the neighborhood and I do not say “No” to sushi. This is a fact.
My buddy, Jess, knows this and tricked me into going to lunch by offering up sushi. Naughty Jess.

Well, hello Basho.
I love the sleek decor of Basho. There are beautiful green accents everywhere. The photo I took though made everything look kind of like poo. It looks quite nice as black & white though, don’t you think?

Basho opened about one week ago and are still in the process of their soft opening. When we first walked in we were greeted by several construction workers and the smell of paint. Not my exact idea of a fancy lunch out, but I don’t like to judge.
Jess and I both went for the bento box option. Are you familiar with bento boxes? They are typically made for one meal that includes fish, meat, or rice and all packed in a cute box. Our bento box included 1 roll, a side of rice, a salad, a main course, and dessert which can also be called an orange.
This is Jess’s meal. Yet again I can not photo her due to what she has deemed a “bad hair day”.  She went for the teriyaki salmon as her main course and she didn’t make a bad choice. I had a few bites and it was cooked perfectly.

I also made a great choice by choosing the vegetable tempura. It was light yet crispy. It was just what tempura should be.

I felt like at $13 it was a bit pricey but it was quite yummy. I will definitely be back to try out Basho’s dinner.

After work it was time to hit up After Hours at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum with Cathy and Karen. The museum is absolutely beautiful but you will have to just take my word for it. Unfortunately they don’t allow pictures inside. If it did I would have taken pictures of our fun glasses of champagne, the musicians in the garden, and the 3 of us on a hunt for Lions. Instead you have this…

Fun huh?

PS. I was the Review of the Day on Yelp! Does this make me cool? No? That is what I though. Oh well. It was worth a try.

G’night kids!

Question for ya:
Do you eat lunch out at work or do you brown bag it? If you do eat out, how much do you normally spend?
