Wine Wednesday!

Ready for some Wine Wednesday?! Remember the rules of Wine Wednesday. You pretend that I only drink on Wednesdays and I, in return, share some of my wine finds. I include the good, the bad, and the ugly. Ready…Set…Go!

First up is my 2nd attempt at boxed wine. The first box I tried was Fish Eye’s Shiraz. I happily took it to a housewarming party and it was a success. The wine was a good drinking wine. Nothing fancy or earth shattering, but good and solid. After a successful first try I decided to give it another go.
Meet Falling Star Malbec from Argentina.
I had high hopes for this one, but it really missed the mark. There is not only a strong alcohol nose, but also a very strong alcohol taste. Typical Malbec is dark and chewy with nice notes of black cherry and plum. Not so much with this box. Unfortunately I have the feeling that this box is going to be sitting on the counter for quite some time.
Next up is a winner though. YES! I picked up a bottle of Zinfandel from Hendry Estate Wines from our wine tasting the other night.
This bottle is quite versatile. Great alone while sipping, but also fantastic when paired with food and cheese. And even more cheese. There is a wonderful rich berry flavor, almost like jam, and a hint of clove. One of my favorite parts of this wine is that it is a screw top too. So much easier to keep for a day or so! Love it. I definitely plan on buying this one again and plan on trying a few more from Hendry too.
I hope you all have a great Wine Wednesday!
G’night kids!
