Steaks and Cougars…

by agirlandhermutt on August 10, 2010

Ok, so I don’t eat steak and I’m not a cougar. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t make a good combo. 😉

Last night, Christie, Cathy and I headed down to Abe & Louie’s for some people watching with a glass of wine. I have heard for years that this bar is notorious for some serious cougar action. I have a few single friends who are a bit older (not old! just older) and I wanted to scope out the scene for them. I’m the best wing woman around! Creepy? Potentially. Fun? Ab-so-lute-ly!

While I was waiting for my posse to arrive, I perused the extensive wine list.

Any place I go that has tons of options for my consumption is a-ok in my book.

I started off with a Cain Cuvee Meritage. Perfect for sipping with a lovely aroma and supple flavor.

By the time the girls arrived, my glass was empty and so was my belly. FOOD!

We started off with a lovely bread basket. I love carbs.

I then moved on to the Spicy Gazpacho (Christie made me do it!) and Cathy joined me.

Eh. I was hoping for a bit more kick. This was kind of bland and I felt like I was eating cold tomato soup rather than a mixture of tomatoes and other veggies. Definitely not my favorite and I’m glad I didn’t go for a bowl instead of a cup. I’m also sad that I broke my streak of no gazpacho for this one.

For my entree, I went for the Wood Grilled Tuna Steak. Umm…wow.

This piece of fish was ENORMOUS! It was nicely seared on the outside, but when opened up it had such a fresh, pink color. SO GOOD!

I didn’t eat a single bite of this steak, but I had to show the shear massive size of this sucker. Christie…where did you hide this?! You could not have eaten this whole thing!

While we were stuffing our faces with these massive meals, we also sipped on this Robert Foley Petite Sirah 06. Mmm…it was jammy and wonderful in every way. Hints of blueberries, blackberries, and just a hint of oak. I love this wine!

I also really indulged in this liquid goodness.

1 glass of wine=1 glass of water. Key to a fun night. True story.

By the end of the night the three of us were ready to ROLL out of this joint.  I was stuffed with some delicious eats and wine. I had an entire meal to take home. I was giddy from a night of laughing and chatting with the girls. Unfortunately there weren’t many cougars to be seen (we learned Thursday was the night for that), but I did manage to find where every single man over the age of 50 hangs out on Monday nights.

I know how to start the week off, right?! Time to get down to some serious business though.

Plan for the week:
-PACKING for Chicago!
-Haircut (thank goodness!)
-New school term starts
-Tons of work work to get finished
-Fit in the gym before leaving for a few days

I’m tired already. Phew!

I hope you all have a great day!

being *a bit* older than you (THAT IS ALL I’M GOING TO SAY!!), I would LOVE for you to be my wing woman. that is to say, I already have the fabulous Jason, so all I’d want is a fun girl time with you 🙂 that I know we’d have… I’ve made wine before, and have a friend who owns a resto here and is quite knowledgeable, but I think you could Most Definitely teach me something about wine!! 🙂

all of this looks delicious…

awww… have fun in Chicago… I’ll be there in spirit, if not attached to a paint stick… 😉
