Recipe Round Up: Halloween Edition!

by agirlandhermutt on October 27, 2011

Eek! Halloween is right around the corner. Halloween is one of my most very favorite holidays and I’m really looking forward to all of this year’s festivities. Dressing up, drinking pumpkin beer, handing out candy, making Korky suffer through being dressed up as something ridiculous.

Obviously I love dressing up and all the spooky decorations, but I know that everyone isn’t into it. However, no one can deny that this time of year brings some great Halloweenie eats! Each year I pour of the internets trying to find the perfect item to bring to a party, to make for The Scientist and his co-workers, and to enjoy all by my greedy lonesome. ;)

In no particular order, here are a few of my favorites in this Recipe Round Up: Halloween Edition!

Carrot-Ginger Quinoa Pepper Jacks from SpaBettie

Not only are these peppers adorable, they are packed with super nutritious and delicious insides!

Candy Corn Cookie Bark from The Girl Who Ate Everything

Everything unhealthy in one little bite. How could you go wrong?! Oh, and is there anyone in the world who doesn’t like a candy corn?! Shame on you if you are say you don’t. ;)

Thai-Spiced Pumpkin Soup from 101 Cookbooks

Holy moly. So good. So delish. So nice and spicy!

Crockpot Turkey White Bean Pumpkin Chili from SkinnyTaste

I tried this recipe for the first time last week and I can’t.get.enough! In the comment’s on my last post, Lauren mentioned using butternut squash puree wherever pumpkin was used and I’m psyched to give it a try in this recipe!

Candy Corn Martini from We Are Not Martha

Umm…infused liquor? with candy corn? YES! PLEASE! And have another one coming already.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds from FitSugar

Roasting pumpkin seeds seems easy enough, but boy can I screw it up. This recipe is a no fail each time!

All of these recipes make me want to go home and chow down. Instead I will go the gym and then head out for dinner with friends. I have to get some rest because tomorrow night is the debut of our Halloween costume. :)

Have a great day!

What was your favorite Halloween treat as a kid? What about as an adult?

My fave treat as a tot was definitely swedish fish. I would eat them until being physically ill. Now, I take my treats in adult versions, spiked. Right now I am sipping my herb orange negroni;)

I didn’t even know what swedish fish were until I was in my mid 20s. Isn’t that sad?!

I like your idea of treats now though!

I love the idea of candy corn bark. Looks so cute! As for favorites growing up and now, they are the same. Cookies. I really don’t fancy candy, but a good cookie is always welcome in my mouth. :)
