Proof That I Am Nuts…

by agirlandhermutt on November 15, 2011

So this post may not be the most rainbows and sunshine type of post I’ve ever had. I’ve got a few little vents and where better to do that than right here with all of you. Lucky ducks.

I’m a social media person. I use Facebook. I enjoy the Twitter. I have been known to Yelp. During my time on these sites there are a few words that I have come across that make me cringe and want to scratch myself silly. People who use these words or phrases are necessarily bad people. It just means they are kind of annoying on an occasions. Once I realized that I had so many icky words on the internet I started to notice that I have a lot of words that I am not a fan of in real life. I’ve now come to the conclusion that I’m a real curmudgeon. Who knew?!

Words and Phrases That Drive Me Nuts:

  • Hubby- Ugh. I don’t have pet names for your husband. Please don’t force me to listen to you call him one directly to me.
  • Preggo- Shudder. It reminds me of the word Eggo. Pregnancy should not remind someone of waffles.
  • Preggers- It is just weird. I don’t necessarily hate this one, but I don’t want to encourage any other cutesy terms for pregnancy.
  • Moist- Ewww. I think of mold. Mold is gross. Unless it is in blue cheese. Mmm. I like blue cheese. But moist is still gross.
  • Pianist- I have a hard time saying this right. I think I get annoyed because I say it wrong every.single.time. Oh Adrian Brody. You were my fave until that movie.
  • Panties- Real word. Real gross.
  • Cray cray- Nope. If someone or something is crazy then that is all the attention it should get. No need to make the crazy cute.
  • Amazeballs- I’m not sure why this one is annoying. It just is. Fact.
  • Strawburries- I am reminded of that weird raspberry thing that happens when parents want to tickle their kids belly. When someone says strawburries I picture them giving me a raspberry. You can see how this could be uncomfortable.
  • For Realz- Don’t replace “s” with “z”. Consider it a rule.
  • It is what it is.- What does that even mean? Of course it is what it is! What kind of psychological B.S. is this?! This is a common phrase on The People’s Court.
  • I could care less.- Well, if you could then why don’t you? I couldn’t care less!

Ahh. It feels better to get that little list off my chest. Don’t get me wrong…I know that I have TONS of really annoying phrases, habits and words.  I’m pretty positive that most of my friends are rattling off a few in their heads while reading this little post. We can focus on me some other day.  I prefer to point out everyone else’s today. ;)

This is all for jokes folks. Kind of. No seriously. It is just a joke. Maybe.

I hope you are having a good start to the week. I started a new before work workout routine. Fingers crossed that I don’t need a nap around lunch time!

See ya tomorrow with some Weekly Eats!

Do you have any no-no words or phrases?

ha, I JUST said this the other day, about “I could care less”, going on and on about why not THINK about what you are saying before it comes out of your mouth? funny. or not. ;)

pretty much agree with all of these here, and just about any adaptation of a real word into one that is not. just… don’t. (I may be guilty of this somewhere, but I really try not to). including dinnah, which I know you do, but I like you, so it doesn’t annoy me as much? weird, I know. what is that saying, someone you like could dump a whole plate of spaghetti on you without event, but someone who gets on your nerves can’t even twirl their fork right…? something along those lines.

also! foodbaby. foodgasm. two things that should not be together. yick!

thanks for this, it was fun! :D

I do say dinnah a ton! Ack! You description of the spaghetti is perfect. You could spill red wine on me and I would say oh well! If someone else dripped near me it would drive me nuts. ;)

Oh, and I’m with ya on the foodbaby and foodgasm. *Shudder*.

Words cannot express how much I loathe the word? phrase? amazeballs. I makes me want to fly into a homicidal rage.

That said, I do say “It is what it is” a lot. For me, it’s just a way of saying “You can’t change it so deal with it.”

Like Stina, I say “It is what it is,” only because the people I’m saying it to stress out over circumstances they cannot change.

I don’t like it when people describe something as “epic.” :P

I think I’m an “epic” person but not nearly as much as others. I’ll be on the look out for that one more.

So many of these I agree with esp amazeballs and hubby. Oh and when people use Z for S or K for C, drives me friggin batty. Add sammie to the list as well and I will stop for now since I can keep going on!

Ugh, amazeballs!!! SO. ANNOYING. When a “friend” on FB uses it I seriously question the existence of our “friendship”… OK, so maybe that’s a bit over the top but I really can’t stand it THAT much.

Chi-town.. pronounced SHY-TOWN

That is one thing that I HATE HATE HATE to the point that if lightning bolts could shoot out of my eyes they would every time I heard it. It’s IH people like the IHHHHHCKKKKKY feeling I get every time some rapper or celebrity uses that work
