One more day until Turkey day! Can you tell I like countdowns? I do them for everything and I think it drives a few people nuts. Minus my Mom. My Mom loves countdowns as much as I do.
Whenever I think of Thanksgiving I can’t help but think of Black Friday. I’ve only participated in the Black Friday festivities once and I vowed to never do it again. Some lady ran over my foot with her double stroller (no kids, just bags) and said “Eh. You were in the way.” I knew then that I was not meant to save money and be a part of this tradition.
Then a few years ago Cyber Monday came about. I was a little more on board with this because I could participate from the comfort of my home. But it was stressful and I quickly realized that I wasn’t meant for this cutthroat online shopping world either.
Now, for the 2nd year in a row, Small Business Saturday is being promoted. This is an event I can totally get behind!

On Saturday I will be gladly giving my money over to local businesses to help support my community and finish up some Christmas shopping.
I think this is what we would call a “Win-Win” situation! You can he

Tomorrow I’ll be taking the day off from blogging to spend the day driving The Scientist and Korky nuts. I’ll be back on Friday with the results of my first Thanksgiving dinner! Eek.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Do you participate in Black Friday festivities? Will you participate in Small Business Saturday?

I don’t really do the die-hard black Friday thing… I’d rather stay in my nice warm bed than stand outside in a line for hours. But last year my parents went and got me a sweet laptop at an amazing deal. So I GUESS if there is a big ticket item with your name on it then it might be worth it. I might hit some of the stores later in the day – Ulta is having a sale on some of the makeup I use and they don’t tend to get too busy. I’m all about supporting local though – I plan on doing some x-mas shopping at Sowa in the weeks to come.
You have the right idea! Where is there an Ulta around here?! TELL ME!
Yay for shopping at the Sowa. You might see me there!
You know, I’d never heard about this Small Business/ Shop Local Saturday before today, and you’re the second person in 5 mintues to post about it. I’m definitely on board with that idea. In fact, I’d already been kicking the idea around.
As for Black Friday, eff that noise. The stores could be giving things away, and I still wouldn’t participate in that ridiculousness!
I’ve only participated in Black Friday once. Darth Husband and I did the majority of our shopping that day but we waited at least an hour after the doors opened to get there. We didn’t have a large budget for gifts so it really helped. This year I am on the fence. My MiL is considering heading out but it all depends on where she wants to go.
Did you end up going?!
Yep! One store and we were in/out without a problem since we didn’t go super early.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I can’t wait to hear how the local shopping went. I go Black Friday shopping with my daughter and we got a few good deals. We were shopping for ourselves and got some clothes and shoes…can never have enough of that…right?!
You can NEVER have too many shoes!
The BF madness is ridiculous! My Dear and I did venture out on Friday to one store and bought a new TV but luckily we missed the morning madness and the flow was similar to any other day… This is the first year I’ve heard about SBS- such an awesome idea! Unfortunately, I was tied up taking care of my Dear and didn’t participate- maybe next year
