Word for 2012: Organize

by agirlandhermutt on January 10, 2012

My word for 2012 is ORGANIZE. All of my yearly, monthly, and weekly goals all have a focal point and that is for me to ORGANIZE my life. I used to think being organized meant boring.

You know that ol’ saying…

Ugh. I wished that I would have realized many years ago that this is totally not true. Having a clean house and an organized life leads to me being a happier person.

For so long I thought I strived in chaos and clutter. Not now friends. Now I thrive in clean sheets, an organized pantry, and a bucket full of clean dog toys.

After watching about a million episodes of Hoarders I’ve decided that decluttering my house, my desk, and my life should really be on the top of my To Do list. I’ve always wanted to be a reality tv show star (true confession!), but that show isn’t what I had in mind.

So 2012 is all about doing just that. Organize. Organization. Organized. All of these words will be used to describe me by 2013. Well, at least a little bit.

I’ve already started on the organization of my health through Project Get Healthy. WW meetings are scheduled. Meals are scheduled. Nights out for going off track are scheduled. <—What?! Gotta keep the balance kids!

Now it is time to get my house in gear. I’m rummaging through boxes and I’m throwing away. Nothing is safe and everything is fair game.

I’ve been scouring Pinterest for great organization ideas and have some plans ready to be put into action. I’ve also found this great 2012 Declutter Calendar. I think I’m on the right track!

Now let the fun begin…

Do you have a word to focus on this year? Any decluttering techniques that you swear by?

Woot woot for organization!!! I feel the same as you — I don’t like to stress and worry about having time to get my house clean and organized but when things are clean and fairly tidy I’m a much happier girl.

I love it! My word for this year is time-management (the hyphen makes it one word ;) ) It goes well with organize, though! I need to get it together!

Totally one word. :) Time-management is a skill that I am doing better on, but still need to work on!

Organization is the key to a less-stressed life, for sure! I am a perpetual list-maker, which helps me more than anything. I also make sure that everything “has it’s place,” because there’s nothing more annoying than wasting time looking for something (because you don’t know where it is). I like to label things and use storage bins and things like that. This is all a work in progress- certain areas of my life (like my job) are FAR more organized than others (my home office…).
Good luck!!

I love the idea of using bins that are labeled. My problem is I often stick a bunch of random things in a box and then it officially becomes a junk box. Ugh…

I am very [maybe overly?] organized- I love having things sorted and put away, knowing where things are, and having things outlined on my [color-coded] calendar… It sounds like a lot of work but I promise it isn’t and def pays off in the long run! I full support this goal haha :D

Hooray for getting areas of yoir life organized! Even though I moved with little I feel like I have so much crap laying around. That being said, organizing is high on my list and I’m looking to buy some compartments for my room so my closet can be organized (it’s a nightmare!

There are some boxes I cleaned out from under my bed that hadn’t been unpacked since I moved to my current place…3 years ago! Out the door they went. What a waste of space!

Hey, if you run across that long lost wedding album… Ahem… Don’t throw it out! :)
