Co-Hosted: Baby Shower!

by agirlandhermutt on March 13, 2012

This weekend I did something I never thought I would do. I hosted a baby shower! Well, co-hosted, but still. I don’t have a ton of experience with babies and certainly not with baby showers, but when my friend, Niki, told me she was pregnant I *knew* I had to be involved in the celebrating.

Along with her mom and her sister we put together a fun afternoon for Niki and all of her friends. And it was wonderful in all ways possible. *Pat on the back.*

We didn’t really have a theme for the shower, but we did have a color scheme that we used throughout the house. Yellow and grey with touches of patterns, bows, and ducks scattered throughout.

Sign for the front door, Quiz set up in living room, Stroller decorations

Lets get to the goodies. This shower was all about bite sized desserts. We wanted everyone to be able to enjoy several items without feeling totally stuffed and in a sugar coma at the end of the day.

I’m not the baker in the group so I left that to Niki’s sister. She did an AMAZING job. Seriously. I was totally impressed with these cupcakes. Several people asked where we bought them. I would have thought the same thing if I hadn’t seen the mixer going for days with my very own eyes.

Red velvet with cream cheese frosting & Vanilla with Nutella frosting

Chocolate with salted caramel buttercream frosting & Lemonade with mereguine frosting

I was in charge of the shooters portion of the party. Figures, huh?

Cheesecake Shooters

Key Lime Pie Shooters

We also had mousse, cheese & crackers, white chocolate popcorn and cut out cookies. There was no lack of food in this joint.

In addition to the desserts we also played a few games. There was no smooshing a candy bar into a diaper and smelling it games. Absolutely no way. Instead we all took turns guessing the baby’s name, played a version of The Price is Right and a quiz. It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to have a great time! Best of all, the mom-to-be had a wonderful time. Score!

As people were leaving we had all kinds of goodies for everyone to take home, including white chocolate popcorn with M&Ms, cookies in a jar, and an empty gift box to fill with tons of cupcakes.

Niki has some very generous friends who gave her some fantastic gifts. The new parents are going to be all set when the baby arrives. This baby room is never going to be the same!

I’m so excited for my friend and her husband. I can’t wait to meet this little girl or little boy. I can’t wait to shower da baby with love and see my friend’s family grow!

I hope you all had a great weekend. My menu is planned, the workouts are scheduled and I’m ready to roll for a new week!

Have you ever hosted a shower?

WOW! This is super impressive! I wouldn’t mind baby showers so much if they were like this! You guys did a great job!
I’ve only ever hosted a bridal shower, even though almost every one of my friends have kids. I’m just NOT into baby showers. I don’t really want one for myself- I’d rather just have a cookout or something.
