Hi friends! Have I mentioned that I am OBSESSED with the Tone It Up girls?! The Scientist is continually creeped out by need to just watch their videos on a continuous loop. Who enjoys watching workout videos?! I just can’t help myself.
Right now I’m lunge deep in their 2nd Annual Spring into Bikini Season workout series.
Each day they send out encouraging emails that include motivational quotes/photos, new workout videos, recipes and TIU success stories. I’m all over emails that don’t include requests for me to do work related items.
This weekend they sent out a few recipes to take along to Memorial Day BBQs. I wasn’t going to a BBQ, but I do enjoy a good picnic food.

First up…Peanut Butter Balls. Ok. Quick fact about me…I CAN NOT have peanut butter in my house on a regular basis. I will eat that crap straight out of the container without a single thought about it. Peanut butter from the jar is calorie free, right?! Riiiight.
Tone It Up’s Peanut Butter Balls
I made a few changes to this recipe. The original recipe calls for dried apricots, but I didn’t have anything but craisins on hand so I used those. I also didn’t have any almond slivers so I replaced it with carob chips. HA. Obvious substitution, of course!
These suckers were SUPER sticky but the perfect bite sized sweet treat. I’ll definitely be making these again in the future! Possibly I might leave out the carob so they look a little less like poo balls.
My Tone It Up obsession didn’t end with some brown poo balls. I also took a page from the TIU Girls and fancied up my grillin’ party (of 1!) on Monday afternoon. Rather than use a regular ol’ boring bun, or no bun since I never buy them, I used portobello mushrooms. Oh my yummy.
I whipped together a random turkey burger using 99% Fat Free ground turkey, feta cheese, chopped sun dried tomatoes, sprouts, and a ton of Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb.
I topped my burger with a little bit of horseradish mustard. I’m a BIG mustard fan and this horseradish one has me in love in a major way.
For the bun I took two portobello mushrooms and brushed a little olive oil on them and seasoned with S&P. I heated them up in the grill for about 2 minutes on each side and they were perfect.
Fair warning. These can be a little messy to eat. Bring on the fork and knife. Grilling classy style!
I’m loving the Tone It Up recipes and their entire nutrition plan. I promise to do a full review of the plan after I’ve used it for a few more weeks. Sneak peak…I LOVE IT!

Is there any food that you have absolutely no will power with?
Peanut butter and any type of chip CAN NOT be in my house. I can demolish them both in minutes.

Good lord that burger looks delicious! I am going to have to look into this TIU girls thing you speak of…
Definitely look into them! It is a great plan and the community is wonderful.
Peanut butter and potato chips are mine too… actually any kind of chip. I buy peanut butter rarely and chips usually when I’ve had a bad day. I always tell myself that tortilla chips are better for me but then I go ahead and eat half the bag in a sitting.
Ha! Thank you for making me not feel alone. Tortilla chips just magically disappear when they are around me.
i really love your recipes they are really great!
