Hello, hello, hello! Its weekly weigh-in time!
First of all, I have to tell you…I had a slight breakdown within the past week. My new plan from Mshell Fitness is excellent, but it is what I would consider a “body builder” nutrition program. Do you know what I mean? I’m talking chicken and broccoli. There is nothing wrong with chicken and broccoli. Honestly, broccoli is my favorite vegetable. BUT! In large quantities, I just can’t take it. As I sat at my desk eating my lunch I just broke. With my head on my desk and a tear in my eye I thought, “Is this what I have to eat to lose weight and reach my goals?! It is so bland! I just can’t! WHERE ARE THE SOUR JACKS?! WHERE IS THE DR. PEPPER?! GOOD GOD I WANT CHEESE!”.
I took a step back, took a deep breath, drank a seltzer, sent a frantic text to my Mom and pulled up my plan to read through it again with tears in my eyes.
My plan focuses on macros (fat, protein, and carbs) and a calorie amount that are specific to me and my goals. Basically I need to eat within my calories and meet my macros to make this program work for me.
Then the light switched on for me!
The next day I gleefully packed my breakfast, lunch and snacks ready to tackle the day. Everything that I put in my bag fit exactly into my macros and calories, but wasn’t necessarily spelled out on my diet plan. This is exactly like tons of other plans I have read about but never really made sense to me. Eating clean is one thing. Eating clean with specific goals and a purpose in mind is another. I can’t just willy nilly eat clean. I need to have guidance. I’m still learning. You don’t send your toddler to high school because she can say more words to her friends and I don’t give up on my plan because I finally understand what the point of the program is.
So for this past week I ate clean, ate more calories than past months and fit in all the requirements (nutrition & fitness) for my program.
I’m down 1.2 lbs. Total is 54.2 lbs!
Sigh. I could cry. Out of happiness this time! Not that ugly cry from earlier in my week.
These photos are a little more than a year apart. I have eyes now! Who knew?!
Workouts from my last weigh-in include:
Friday- Legs (BRUTAL, BRUTAL, BRUTAL!)
Saturday- Arms, Abs & Cardio
Sunday- Chest, Abs & Cardio
Monday- OFF! <—It feels good to have a rest day when you work HARD!
Wednesday- Back & Cardio
The fitness aspect of my program is ON POINT. I seriously get excited to sweat. Plus, I love being able to lift more than some of the creepers at my gym. I’m looking forward to seeing how this week goes for nutrition. I’m still really excited about my plan. Each week I’m learning more and more about eating to fuel my body, fitness and overall health. It is like being back in school!
Speaking of learning, if any of you have health related books/blogs that you think I might find interesting, leave a comment below! I don’t care if it matches my thinking. I just like to read about all the approaches and ways of thinking about health & fitness.
