Let the fun begin!

by agirlandhermutt on February 13, 2014

I am officially 34! Today is my birthday and I could NOT be more excited! Getting older is not something that freaks me out. When I turned 30 I could barely contain my excitement. I had tons of fun in my teens and 20s, but I also really like having fun with a bit more $$$ in my pocket and smarts in the brain.

The year of being 33 is hard for me to put into words. On my birthday post last year I mentioned that although a fun year, 32 was a bit of a blur for me. I felt like life was happening TO ME rather than I was happening to life. The minute 2013 rolled around I *finally* made the decision to change up my life. I decided to lose some of the extra pounds and get healthier. That process took some time to get used to and adjust my social settings around. That didn’t stop the fun though! I still managed to travel a ton, hang out with my friends, spend time with my family and snuggle with the Mutt.

Over the year I embraced my creative side. Or rather I just painted at The Paint Bar. A LOT.

I did some traveling. To places with beaches and large bodies of water or mountains. After looking through these photos I just had to laugh at some of the similarities. Eh. You like what you like!

Cruising on the Allure of the Seas with my family.

Utah for the Blends Retreat.

Provincetown, Ma for a little weekend away.

San Diego just because.

Brooklyn, NY for a birthday celebration.

Miami to celebrate the AZ’s upcoming wedding.

Pensacola for Christmas.

Orlando to  visit Typhoon Lagoon & swim with manatees.

Colorado!

When I was not traveling I was able to get some work done (gotta make that $$$ somehow!) and enjoying some really good times with great friends. I’m so lucky to have a variety of old, new, near and far folks in my life!

There never seems to be enough time with my family in the year, but this time I was able to see them in person on 3 different occasions! That doesn’t include the countless hours of chatting on the phone and Facetiming. We are creepy close. I get it.

Unfortunately this year I also experienced a terrifying and tragic event. BUT! The way that it brought my city together is indescribable and made me so grateful for the life that I’m living.

I made a few goals throughout the year. Some I accomplished. Others are still a work in progress.

Become a spinning instructor…at some point.

Stick with it in 2014!

Even though I was on a quest to get fit, I managed to find time to suck down some amazing eats and drinks.

Bloody Mary at Bokx109.

Brunch at Vinebrook.

Cauliflower EVERYTHING!

Don’t forget all that beer!

There were, of course, some really cute moments with my best bud, Korky.

And did I mention I lost 50+ lbs?! (I know, I know. Thanks for indulging me!)

This year was AMAZING. With wonderful people by my side I was able to experience so many places and things that I would never even had dreamed of doing. But do what know what the best part of this past year was?!

IT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING!

Cheesy but true. 33 was great. 34 is going to be even better. Just you watch and see. ;)

So from me and the Mutt…Thanks for following along this year!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ll see ya next week!

Wow, this year was outstanding for you! Props for everything you accomplished plus everything you have planned this year. I bought a new food processor today and shredded cauliflower is on my list.

Happy birthday and hope you’re enjoying the vacation!

Happy birthday! Glad you’re going to Blend again this year. I didn’t get to meet you last time! :( I’m trying to make it out to Colorado after Blend too.
