Hello there! These past few weeks have been NUTS. For the first time in what seems like forever I can take a deep breath and just relax. Over the past month I have been traveling (Joplin and Atlanta!), moving and of course, trying to keep up my workouts while surviving work. With a few weeks of nothing major on the calendar, it is time to get to business getting my life in order.
First…Boston locals, be sure to check out my giveaway for a JustAddCooking 3-meal box!
Next…Let’s have a quick chat about all those shenanigans I mentioned above.
A few weeks ago I flew out to Joplin, Missouri to meet up with my Dad to visit my Grandma.
Flights are good for reading all the magazines that I buy and NEVER read when I’m at home. I also got new sneakers. LOVE THEM.
We like to fly into Springfield and drive from there. The airport there is just a bit busier. *sarcasm*
The main purpose of the trip was to spend time with my Grandma, which we did a lot! But I also got to spend some quality time with my Dad. There is no one that can make my Dad laugh like me and vice versa. My Mom and BF do a lot of eye rolling when we are together.
While in Joplin we also got a chance to check out how much they have rebuilt since the devastating tornado in 2011. The tornado killed 158 people and caused about $2.8 billion in damages. I’m so impressed by how many new buildings, parks, businesses and such have been repaired and/or opened since then. This picture was the sight of the church that my parents and I attended when in town. The cross and the priest who had taken shelter in a bathtub were literally the only thing standing after the storm. The church has since rebuilt on a new site, but this incredible reminder is still there.
I came home from that trip to the final push for my move out of my apartment. This just wasn’t moving though. I was purging. The amount of garbage that came out of my house was unreal.
I lived in my apartment for 5 years. Everything about that apartment was perfect for me. However, when we decided that it was time for me to leave it also felt like it was the right time to go. Just like people serve a purpose in your life, this apartment served a purpose in mine. I lived on my own. I grew up (a little).
I’m all moved into my new place with my permanent roommate (the fiancé!) and trying to resist the urge to just throw every box I brought with me away. I hate unpacking almost as much as I hate packing.
So what do you do when you are stressed from moving?! You work out more. I tried all kinds of workouts the week of the move thanks to my ClassPass (more on that later this week!), but the actual day after my move I was booking it over to Chestnut Hill for my VERY FIRST SOULCYCLE class with the Boston Bloggers!
I’m going to try out another class before I give it a full review. Stay tuned!
I had one week at the new place before hopping on another plane. During that week I did the Tone It Up 5 Day Slim Down. Nothing crazy, just getting my food back in order.
Random purchases over the week to make me feel better and less stressed included:
After a week of living in boxes and attempting to get my life back in order, it was time to fly down to Atlanta for my buddy, Allison’s, wedding.
There was food!
There was drink!
Monday Night Brewing Drafty Kilt and Fu Manbrew
And that is that! Back to the real world, unpacking and the gym. See ya soon!
