Somehow we have made it to Monday which means…I START TRIATHLON TRAINING TODAY!
Eek! Can you feel my excitement?!
I decided to do a Sprint Triathlon this summer. I then realized that the word is triathlon and NOT triathalon. Lesson learned. I’m pretty confident that I could do each section of the race on its’ own, but all together? That is the real challenge. Plus, I don’t want to “just finish”. I want to do well! I know I won’t be winning the race, but I want to be proud of myself for pushing my limits and really accomplishing something that took effort, time and commitment. I’m going to put that whole motto of “Consistent & Persistent” to the test over the next few months. If I am being honest, my training program isn’t *that* much different than my regular workout schedule, but I am adding in swimming and a little more running. Oh boy.
Today is the last day of the 21-Day Fix! I really love this program and have learned a ton about my eating habits. I’ll post my final thoughts a little later this week. I managed to time the end of the 21-Day Fix with the start of my triathlon training. However, I didn’t realize that the Tone It Up Bikini Series would ALSO be starting up today.
For those of you who don’t know, I’m a HUGE Tone It Up fan. I don’t live my life by everything the girls say, but I think they have some great tips, a great basic nutrition program and some fantastic workouts. Much of it is FREE too!
Also, for those that don’t like TIU…I get it! For some people these women just don’t do it for them. They don’t like the cutesy video and workout names. They don’t like the constant bikini shots. I’ve heard ya and I totally understand, but I LOVE IT. TIU Girl here!
I won’t be able to follow the training plan for the Bikini Series 100% because of my triathlon training plan (which is also from TIU!), but I am going to follow along as closely as possible.
They have a few things that I can do no matter what.
–Cardio 20-30 minutes daily
-#150bySummer– 150 miles logged by June 21st, the first day of Summer.
–Sunset Challenge– To-Dos that are meant to be motivating
One of the first challenges was to visualize what you wanted your summer to look like. I took a minute to sit down and think about some of my favorite things to do during the summer that I feel like I just don’t get to do enough. I *really* want to make the time to do all of these (multiple times!) this summer.
What are some of your favorite summer activities?!
As far as my eating plan for the Bikini Series and the triathlon training? Well, that is still up in the air. I’m going to continue to use the 21-Day Fix boxes and just stick with clean eating and watching my portion sizes. Just because I’m saying that I’m “training” for an event doesn’t mean I automatically need to eat more food. I just need to watch my activity level and be open to adjustments. I can do that! I think?!
Fitness Plan for the Week:
This is week 1 on the training schedule and I’m already plagued by various social commitments. Making the time to get it done is where my real work is going to happen!
Tuesday– Pure Barre- My first swim was also to take place on Tuesday, but I’m going to see Aziz Ansari instead. Heh.
Wednesday– Flywheel! (spinning) & 10 min run- My first time really moving from one activity to another. The run isn’t long but is meant to get you used to that transition.
Thursday– 30 min run & Legs
Friday– Swim!- This will be my first time swimming laps…ever!
Saturday– Total Body Shred & 80 min bike ride
Sunday– Active Rest Day!- I have yoga on the schedule, but I might just walk the dog for a longer period. We shall see.
I really want to track my training progress over the next month or so but I’m not sure the best way to go about doing that here on the blog.
