A Fall Bucket List & October Goals Update

by agirlandhermutt on October 30, 2015

Hi there! Earlier this year I made a little bucket list of things I wanted to do in the New England area during the summer. Most of the list revolved around doing fun things in the area that I haven’t done in a while or have never done before. I took my first trip to Montreal (stretching it with the New England geography on that one!). I went to the pool a few times. I spent several weekends just laying around on the beach. I ate lobster rolls and clam chowder at a famous lobster shack. I made my first visit to the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut. I explored I discovered TONS of great new beers.

To sum it all up…it was a fantastic summer filled with some really fun memories!

Now that Boston is getting chilly, I can see people starting to retreat to their warm homes. Rather than join them by just cuddling up with a blanket till April, I’ve decided to keep up with the bucket lists. The bucket list for this Fall was short and sweet.

1. Go to a corn maze.
2. Check out the fall foliage.
3. Discover some new breweries.
4. Do something fun for Halloween that INCLUDES A COSTUME!
5. Go to NYC.

Last weekend we knocked 3 of those items off in one day. BOOM!

Saturday was kind of an overcast day, but no rain was in sight. We took the hour drive to Sterling, Ma to make a visit to the Davis Mega Maze. Since 1998 the Davis Farmland started to create a 3-dimensional maze out of corn. A maize maze, if you will. 😉 I’ve read about the maze for years but just never got around to it.

On the way to the maze we got to see so many gorgeous trees! A little lesson, an iphone and a moving car do not make for a good combo when it comes to photographing fall tree colors.

All of the trees were so bright and gorgeous! A good orange tree makes me smile. You will have to take my word for it that everything was just lovely and not this boring brown color.

It was a busy day at the maze, but not crazy. I really wanted to go to the night version a try but I was being a little paranoid about my knee. I had visions of teenagers running around and bumping into me like some crippled old lady. The day version was just fine for me.

We wondered around the maze for about 1.5 hrs just doing all the fun little challenges and games. It was a fun outing for the day and I would love to make it a yearly trip.

On the way home we made a pit stop at a brewery in Hudson, Ma called Medusa.I’ve tried a few of their beers and nothing really stood out to me, but their space is amazing! Tons of tables, you can bring in your own food, and a really nice chill vibe.

So that was 3 different things we marked off the list in just one day!

Halloween is tomorrow night and I AM READY. I won’t spoil my costume, but I will give you a little hint. My costume is a couples costume and is based off one of my favorite tv characters. 🙂

I also wanted to wear something fun to work so I put together this cute little shirt to wear on Friday. This little DIY was possible thanks to instructions from A Beautiful Mess. Finally a DIY that I didn’t totally screw up!

There is more info coming on the NYC part of my bucket list. Yesssss.

And in other news, let’s chat about those October goals that I made at the beginning of the month.

The biggest one on the list was to get back in the saddle by the end of the month. Well folks…DONE!

On Wednesday night I went to a Glo Cycle event at The Handle Bar in Harvard Sq. It was a spinning class with glow-in-the-dark items, a live DJ and cocktails afterwards.

I wasn’t able to do any of the standing moves, but I was able to ride the entire 45 minutes with no pain or discomfort. I cried a little in the car after class because it finally felt like I was moving in the right direction.

I did great with my other goals too. I stayed on track and managed to lose 12 lbs. this month. WOOT!

Now I just need to figure out what is next! Stay tuned!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (agirlandhermutt) to see what I’m up to this weekend!
