30 While 30

The year I turned 27 I decided that I wanted to make a list of 27 things to do that year. Kind of a New Year’s Resolutions, but easier. Small, obtainable goals! Over the past few years I have done a decent job of having new adventures, trying new things and marking things off my To Do list every year. It is a fun way to challenge myself! I don’t take the list too seriously because the goal is to have fun and enjoy life.  I’ll update this list as the year progresses and hopefully you can watch me mark things off one by one!

I’m officially 31 and its time to update the 30 While 30 page. Out with the old and in with the older! 😉

30 Things to Do While I’m 30 Years Old!

1. Visit Canada. DONE! I took a trip to Niagara Falls for my birthday!

2. Go snow mobiling. DONE! I went when my dad came to visit.

3. Make a wine book. DONE!

4. Don’t buy a single book. Done! I used the library for every single book.

5. 365 Photo Project. Done! I didn’t document every single photo here on the blog but I totally did it.

6. Avon Walk! DONE! In May I completed the 2-day, 40 mile walk with Pops Morgan.

7. Lose an unspecified about of weight. The training is helping! The wine is not. ;) Still working on it!

8. Reduce number of boxes in basement. DONE! Thanks flooding.

9. Keep up with my blog (1 post per week)  –DONE! Yay! A Girl & Her Mutt got a permanent home in 2010 and I’m not blogging pretty regularly.

10. Knit a sweater. It could be for me, it could be for the dog. Boo…I didn’t get this one done.

11. Send out Christmas cards. On time. DONE! Merry Christmas kids!

12. Learn to cook 12 new meals. DONE! My passion to learn to cook fueled my desire to become a food blogger. My desire to be a better food blogger drove me to learn new meals!

13. Go to Mystic Aquarium! I love aquariums and its close. I have to go. Nope. Still working on this one!

14. Make a menu for each week and use the list to grocery shop. – DONE! I love making menus and coupon cutting!

15. Start Christmas fund earlier in the year. Like January as opposed to October.Done! Stayed in budget and got all the gifts I wanted to give!

 16. Have a spa day. DONE! This is happening on my 31st birthday. The Scientist is treating me to a complete spa day!

17. Print fave photos from last year and have them framed to displayDONE!

18. Go skydiving!- Not going to happen this year. Booo. Next time!

19. Give up tv for 1 week. No exceptions!- DONE! Ugh. Rough.

20. No more plastic bags from the grocery store!Actually use all those reusable bags I own.  –DONE! I sometimes forget but I’m so much better these days. I used them about 8 out of 10 times.

21. Visit a new city! DONE! I was going to count Niagara Falls as my new city, but that is too easy. I visited Portsmouth, NH and it was lovely!

22. Go somewhere special for NYE! Done! I spent NYE in Atlanta and went to a college bowl game!

23. Learn a cool magic trick. ALMOST!

24. Go to a Celtics game! DONE! We went for The Scientist’s Christmas present. We also went back in April!

25. Go through ALL of my clothes and donate everything I haven’t worn in a year. DONE! I dropped off 7 (yes 7!) bags of clothing at the Goodwill this past weekend.

26. Watch a sunrise at the beach. Sad smile No! Where did the time go?!

27. Paint an actual painting on canvas. Nada.

28. Take a cooking class. Kind of. It will happen a few days after the 30th! the first class I signed up for was cancelled.

29. Go to the observatory to look at the stars. No way. Going soon though!

30. Watch the Top 10 Movies of All Time.  Wow. This was hard! 10 seems like such an easy number but this is much harder than I though.

Soo…looking at this list I can say that I got about half done. This would be great if I was 15, but I’m 30. I’m not too disappointed though. This list was created to get me out of my shell to do new things. That totally worked! I had some really fun adventures during the year and my 30s really started off with a bang!

I will definitely be creating a 31 While 31 list and I’m aiming to accomplish at least 17 of those! Winking smile

I had lost your blog for a while, but am glad I found my way back! I love your 30 while 30 idea and may steal it, but (eeeek) I have to add 10 to do it myself!!! (that is still sinking in). I will keep checking in to see your progress!

You’re fabulous, but clearly bad at math. You got 2/3 done. That’s awesome! Especially since some of the things on your list were quite difficult to accomplish. And, um, this is way harder as you get older. If you were only 15 and you did half, that would only be 7 things. Lame! 😉
