Puzzle Pieces (Day 128)…

by agirlandhermutt on May 9, 2010

Ikea furniture is like a big puzzle. There are all these pieces with little holes in them. Each piece looks alike so you have to match up the small holes to get the piece put together. You really just kind of keep your fingers crossed that it works out in the end and all the pieces fit right. I have put together my fair share of Ikea furniture so I was ready to get started and get the bookshelf up in the apartment.

First, a little fuel for the day. I made one of my favorite weekend breakfasts, a One Egg Scramble. I sauté half of a red pepper all chopped up and 1/4 chopped red pepper. Once the veggies are nice and heated up I pour one egg over the mixture. Mix together and season when done. Any chopped up veggie can be added and it really bulks up the one egg.

One of my new Ikea bowls!

After breakfast, I got to work on the bookshelf. For the most part it was pretty easy to put together. Then I got to the last few screws and was having a serious issue getting those suckers to screw in appropriately. I needed a break so I went shopping for about 2 hours. I am so easily distracted! I finally got home to finish up the construction and with a little help from The Scientist I came up with this…

My new lamp
The entry wall to my place

I love the way the shelf pulls my whole living room together. I have several books that are screaming to be stored in the little cubes and I’m in the process of picking out pictures for the frames. I love new house decorations!
I’m off to get some rest before a super busy week. This time next Sunday I will have completed the Avon Walk and be relaxing after finishing 39 miles!
G’night kids!

I have a confession to make. My dog smells sometimes. My apartment has a bit of a funk every now and then. I even have a little bit of a stink happening occasionally.

All of these reasons are why I am obsessed with this…

My mom introduced me to these “simmer pots” a few years back. She has a big fear of me burning down my house (for good reason probably) and preferred that I not burn candles. However, because of the smelly aspects of my life mentioned above she knew that I needed something to help me out. Simmer pots use a light bulb to heat up wax tarts. No candle. Nothing to burn myself on. Super easy to switch out the smell!
Are you a candle person? Have you ever tried these simmer pots? I’m always on the lookout for cute pots and great smelling tarts! Help a girl out.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Yay! The tree is up, decorated and looking spectacular! My star is a bit off, but I think it makes it even that much better. Plus, I don’t really have a choice. I’m short and the tree isn’t. 😉

My apartment loves the tree and the tree seems to love the apartment.

Let the festivities begin!
