Monthly Goals

Update on August Goals & New September Goals!

by agirlandhermutt on September 8, 2016

Hello there! We are well into September and life is going great. In a quest to stick to some type of plan in life, I made some goals for August.

Overall, I did pretty good hitting some goals. I wasn’t perfect, but is that really a surprise? No. And just a little behind-the-scenes for this blog post…it took me three tries to spell surprise correctly. So sad!

Ok, update time!

Prep Each Night– YES! I did a great job with this one. I don’t get crazy and sleep in my workout clothes or anything, but I did figure out what I was going to wear the next day, thought about what I would do for lunch and put my keys and work badge in my bag. I did NOT forget my badge at home one single time last month! Boom. Responsible employee. I have a great planner that I use during the day, but I actually started checking it each night to see what was on the agenda for the next day. So helpful. Who knew?!

Get 7 Hours of Sleep- Ha. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. I try so hard, but I’m such a night owl! The only problem is that I HAVE to be up early in the morning for work and to take care of the dog (ALFIE!). Brutal. In general, I average about 7 hrs each night during a week, but it is mostly because I sleep for 4hrs on one night and then 9 hrs another night. Check out this extra special week from August when I was sick. Yay! 5 hr sleep average!

1 Yoga & 1 Spinning Class a Week– Ok, so this is where my non perfect self comes into play. I went spinning twice in the first week, 1 time the second week, totally skipped another week and then finished out the month with a Soul Survivor class (60 min). There was not a single yoga class to be found in there. NOT EVEN ONE. In my defense, I got sick, like mega sick, and got a dog. On a side note, I made it to Orange Theory Fitness, Rowing practice and Zumba each week. WOOT! Poor yoga. Whomp whomp.

No Clothes Buying– So close! I got distracted by a Lularoe sale and accidentally bought 2 pairs of leggings before I remembered that I had made a goal to not buy any clothing. Maybe I will join the folks that say leggings aren’t pants?! Eh. Not going to happen. Oops!

Challenge Myself Each Day
– Yessss? There was definitely a week in there where I was a bit off my game. We had just brought Alfie home, I was super sick and just not feeling it. But 1 week out of 4? Not too shabby.

So what is up for September?!

Same goals. 🙂 I can improve in all of these areas still. Except this time I want to add in some meditation. I downloaded this app called Headspace that offers a guided mediation for 10 days. So far, so good!

I hope you guys had a great August and have kicked off September in an epic way. See ya soon!

Goals: Finishing up July & Starting August!

by agirlandhermutt on July 31, 2014

If I didn’t make goals, would things get done throughout the month? I guess that is like asking if a tree makes a sound when it falls in the woods and no one is around. We will never know! I love goals! I don’t meet all of them, but at least they keep me on track…somewhat.

1. Train!- YES! I did this to the best of my ability and it showed!

2. Log 78 miles– Almost! I have one more mile to go. 🙂

3. Track all bites– I was off track with this one for the first part of the month but have really been dialed in for the past two weeks. Better late than never, right?!

4. Do 2 things on my 34While34 list!- YES!

1. Participate in an athletic event. Done! Iron Girl Sprint Triathlon 7/20/14
26. Buy a bikini. Done!

Yep, I bought a bikini! No pictures or anything. I’m not that nuts just quite yet, but I figured I would give it a try. It isn’t horrible. 😉

5. Read at least one book– Done! I read exactly ONE book. Ha! Ever the overachiever.

6. Workout in the AM 2x/week.- Not exactly. I worked out in the morning exactly 2x. Total. In the month.

7. Throw away some junk.- Yes, but I can guarantee you that my BF thinks it isn’t nearly enough.

Overall, a pretty successful month. I know we say this ALL OF THE TIME, but it is hard to believe that it is already going to be August! Seriously. What have I been doing all year?!

In an effort to enjoy the most of this summer, I am making goals for August that are more fun & summer based.

1. Get to the beach. Seriously. Just one time! Between training for the triathlon and it being WAY to hot, I just haven’t made it.

2. Watch a movie outdoors. Boston has tons of outdoor movie events and I want to go to one. Pretty simple.

3. Do 2 more things on the 34 while 34 list!

4. Make it to Pure Barre 6 times in the morning. I’ve tried the 7am class a few times and really liked it, but the amount of planning involved is nuts. I have to remember clothes, make-up and a real bra for work. BUT! I feel so good when I get it out of the way.

5. Enjoy some time with Korky. Obviously I spend tons of time with Kork, but often it is while I am doing something else. When we go on walks, I’m often checking the last bit of work emails for the day. I want to pay full attention to him and make sure the old guy knows how much I love him.

6. Be crafty! This past month I made our wedding invites. EEK! (I’ll show them to you later!) I had so much fun getting creative and crafty. I’m going to try to do a bit more of that this month. Pinterest…get ready!

7. Finish up my #175byLaborDay challenge. Whoa. That is a lot of miles! I can do it though!

I hope you guys are having a good week! If you have any big goals for August, let me know!

#GoalGetter: July Goals!

by agirlandhermutt on July 1, 2014

Oh hello July. As the end of June was coming up I started thinking back on what I have accomplished so far this year. I’ve done a ton but there are several things that have kind of taken a back seat. I don’t think that is horrible, but it is time to get things in order. It is a new month and that means no better time than now to set some goals and get my priorities back in line.

1. My triathlon is coming up in just a few short weeks! No excuses. Just train.

2. As part of the #175byLaborDay challenge I want to complete 78 miles during the month. That averages out to about 2.5 miles a day. I can totally do that!

3. I’ve gotten a little lazy with my tracking. I just need to get back in the habit so I know what I am eating, when I am eating and WHY I am eating it.

4. My list is meant to be fun! I want to do fun things!

5. Oh boy. My reading has really been pathetic this year. I need to get back into it! What better time than during the summer.

6. The days are busy and I don’t want a reason for an excuse. I’m trying (with the BF!) to get up and workout 2x/week in the morning. Just get it done with!

7. Confession. I am slightly a hoarder. Nothing extreme. You could totally come to my house and not trip over crap and be able to sit on my couch just fine. But I have a lot of junk in boxes. This normally wouldn’t bother me, but it drives my fiance up the wall. Since we live together it is time for me to part ways with this crap! If you are reading this, I’m ready to throw junk away! Get excited!

I’ll be tracking my progress with my goals on the blog, but also on Instagram with the hashtag #goalgetter. There are lots of other photos with this hashtag, but you can weed mine out since my photos don’t involve soccer. 😉 If you are tracking your progress on any goals, use the hashtag too so I can cheer you on! I’m a good cheerleader. Fact.

One more thing…My blog buddy, Paige, is putting on a Glute Camp over on her blog YourTrainerPaige.

All booty, all the time. I’m signed up to help supplement my training and so are a few of my friends. Get in on the action and get that booty poppin’. Oh god. Did I just say that?! Whatever. Sign up. It will be fun! The excitement begins Monday!
