Football! Football! Football!

by agirlandhermutt on August 12, 2011

I marked something off my Life’s To Do List last night…I went to my first Pro Football game!

The Scientist scored us some Patriots pre season tickets so a group of us could go. There was no 1st string players on the field, no good looking uniforms and no fun stuff on the field, but it was still exciting to be there in the thick of things.

I’m not the world’s biggest New England Patriots fan (pick a city, not a whole region! and I think Tom Brady is a nerd), but it is something I HAD to do since I’ve been living in Boston for almost 6 YEARS. It was fun and I’m so glad I got to go! Plus, I got to see a few JUMBO Ochocinco heads in the crowd. Loved it.

Parking= $40
3 Beers= $33
1 hamburger, 1 fry, 2 hotdogs, 1 nacho, and 1 water=$38
First Pro Football Game=SCORE!

I hope you all had a great week and get ready for the weekend. Any fun plans? I’m heading to the drive-in tonight!

Have you ever been to a pro sporting game? Do you like to watch sports?

He Shoots! He Scores!

by agirlandhermutt on January 19, 2011

As a fun Christmas gift, I gave The Scientist two tickets to a Celtics vs. Magic game. Remember?

I have gone to a game once before as part of my 30 While 30 accomplishments, but this was going to be a bit different because The Scientist is a HUGE fan of The Magic. Well Monday was the big night for us to go! It fell on MLK Day so I had the day off from work. Rather than be a bum and just lay around the house, I joined by buddy Karen for a visit to her gym. I’m in the process of dropping my current gym and joining a new one so this was part of my evaluation. We worked it hardcore on the elliptical. My new fave this is to use this workout from FitSugar.

FitSugar has some awesome workout for the elliptical, treadmill and strength training routines to download and print out (check out the tag “PDF” for some other great printables!). Great for a grab-n-workout routine!

We followed up our workout with a trip to In a Pickle for some brunch.

Their menu is extensive, but filled with all kinds of yummy meals that involve eggs and breakfast potatoes!

I went for a Sombrero Breakfast sandwich: one egg with onion, tomatoes, salsa, and jalapenos on a whole wheat bagel. I also definitely went for the side of hash browns. Its so hard to say no!

Karen made a smarter choice with a burrito and a side of fruit. Show off. Winking smile

The rest of the day was dedicated to grocery shopping, meal planning and getting ready for the BIG GAME!

I love the atmosphere of pro sports games. I don’t really watch basketball on tv, but I do enjoy a live game. The Scientist is a life long Magic fan and I secretly love their uniform colors so…WIN WIN!

I also happen to love Dwight Howard and JJ Redick. True Story.

Long game (which we didn’t win), but a good time! I even got to see a giant Shaq head! Bobble heads make me giggle.

Guess who else was at the game?! Michelle from Hit the Bricks! Her view of the game=Much better than mine! Check out how close she was!

Are you a sports fan? If so, college, pro, both?!

I’m a big fan of FSU (duh!), Red Sox, Boston Blazers (lacrosse), and I keep up with the Magic and Tampa Bay Bucs (The Scientist’s teams).

The Return of the NOLES…

by agirlandhermutt on November 27, 2010

Can you hear me singing the FSU chant from your house?! If not, rest assured that my neighbors can. After 6 years of a poor showing, Florida State finally beat the crap out of University of Florida. *Phew* Its about dang time!

To make it all that much better…The Scientist is a UF graduate. HAHAHAHAHA! What?! A little rivalry never hurt anyone. Winking smile

Every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving FSU and UF play each other. It was awesome when I was in school because we were playing at National Championship levels. Not so much after school. Eek.

There is something amazing about being a Seminole. I started to get all choked up watching the game. Doak Campbell is an amazing stadium with TONS of history.

The FSU players entrance to the game was a-maz-ing. I felt like I was there! Fast forward to the 3:30 mark to get an idea of what its like to be in Seminole Territory!

GO NOLES!

No football watching event is complete without some goodies. My goodies looked like beers.

My local liquor store makes these awesome mixes for the holidays.

We noshed on some homemade edamame hummus, buffalo dip, and other fun items. I continued to enjoy the beer the most though. Winking smile

CHEERS to FSU kicking some Gator tail!

In the end, the final score was 31-7. FSU FTW! I did a little FSU winning dance and then sang the FSU fight song. I have the feeling I’m slightly irritating at times.

We’ve got to fight, fight, fight for F.S.U.
We’ve got to scalp ’em Seminoles
We’ve got to win, win, win, win, win this game
And roll on down and make those goals
For F.S.U. is on the warpath now
And at the battle’s end she’s great
So fight, fight, fight, fight for victory
The Seminoles of Florida State
F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T-A-T-E
Florida State, Florida State, Florida State
!

WHOOO!
